Michelle Leslie’s Tips for Travelling in Style
Michelle Leslie, ex-underwear model, convicted drug user and fledgling fashion designer has again grabbed headlines with her tips for travelling in style. The feminine look is out and the masculine look is in this season.
For women air travellers on long haul flights, being stuck in a cramped seat in feminine attire can be extremely uncomfortable. In this week's edition of New Idea, Michelle Leslie explains the hot new masculine look in a six page feature. Leslie is promoting the adoption of denim jeans, polo shirts, slip-on shoes and sports jackets for women travellers and explains, "This look is all about comfort and functionality. The sports jacket is essential as it has all the pockets a woman could need to hold all the bits and pieces necessary on a long flight. There is now no need to carry a handbag and instead a large non-descript backpack can be taken on board as hand luggage."
Any woman air traveller will know the disastrous effects of static electricity on her hairstyle. It is impossible to tame hair of any length on a flight and Leslie suggests that all women adopt a headscarf so that, upon arrival at their destination, they do not look like they are having a bad-hair day. An added advantage is that headscarves offer considerable protection from the too cool air-conditioning on planes.
The best feature of the masculine look is women with beards. Beards offer women many advantages while travelling. Make up is unnecessary and the natural oils in a beard counteract the drying effects of air travel. Small pieces of food are neatly caught by a beard rather than staining clothing. Leslie said, "I love my beard. I have been getting a lot of extra attention from both men and women." Women who cannot naturally grow a big bushy beard can give nature a helping hand by taking the male hormone dihydrotestosterone. Australian doctors are not able to prescribe dihydrotestosterone to women to enhance beard growth, but it is readily available on the black market and comes in the form of small pink pills wrapped in tissue. Leslie explained that growing a beard is a long term approach suited to frequent travellers and said, "It won’t happen overnight but it will happen."
The overall effect of the masculine look is an air of power and virility which will ensure that women get treated with respect by airline staff. Women will find that they are offered free upgrades more often and get a better standard of service during the flight. Unlike most fashion for women, the masculine look is not just for those with a waif-like physique and is suitable for women of all ages and sizes.
I think it's quite funny, and well written aswell. If she was a decent person I would say it was 'offensive' - (note: correct spelling!) - but how many people has she hurt by using their religion to get out of jail, pass bali, and collect at least $200 (in selling her story).
