The Plantronics Pulsar 590 comes with a good price for its excellent quality and uncanny ability to do many things and interact with many things. The Pulsar 590 is a classic item of the high tech world from its look to the newly introduced software that it boasts. It can connect to cell phones, computers, and music players and reduces the amount of wires that are often used for a collection of these gadgets. With Bluetooth technology no wires are required for the headphones whatsoever.
The look breathes the creed of this type of technology: function matters not looks. The bulky build of the black and silver headphones will draw more than a few looks and awkward glances. The voice tube that extends amplifies the effect of wearing some new-age nerd technology. Yet, the convenience of the voice tube more than often makes the user forget how ridiculous he might look. With Bluetooth technology in cell phones, a press of a button leads to an extending voice tube that allows you to switch to your call from jamming to tunes.
What may be the most amazing part of the Pulsar 590 is its ability to do everything as well as or better than the devices that have only one function. The sound clarity is amazing, the noise reduction is superb, and the bass and treble are among the best I have ever heard. These features put the headphones over the top and into the must-buy category. If this was not enough, the battery life is excellent lasting up to twelve hours (talking) and ten hours (listening).
The price is decent at $US 199, but to harness the full capability of the Pulsar 590, it is necessary to buy the universal adaptor for an extra fifty dollars. The $US 199 includes an AC power cord, a USB 2.0 charging cord to a computer, and an airplane jack to listen on flights. The universal adaptor isn’t necessary for gadgets that have A2DP technology because the program serves as a common link. For now, these gadgets are scarce but they should emerge in the next year. These headphones are great to have if you don’t mind looking a little like a high-tech nerd. RATING: 9 out of 10.
