Cingular LG C2000
The LG C2000 cell phone boasts an array of hi-tech features but does not even have decent reception. Nowadays, most phones are coming out with a camera, web access, instant messaging and MP3 ring tones. These are standard even in a mid-range handset but with more and more companies offering these features, the race is no to see who can offer them at the lowest price. Yet Cingular seemed to forget that cell phones are also used to call people and not just have cool ring tones.
The LG C2000 has all the features mentioned above, from the camera to the instant messaging. This is easily overshadowed by poor voice quality and low-battery life. The outside décor is similar to most phones with a slim grey exterior, a camera lens and a bland look. The build seems awkward and fragile. The phone is not only thin but has a flimsy feel. It can be broken fairly easily. As if the layout on the outside wasn’t bad enough, the LG C2000 also managed to cause inconveniences on the inside. The guilt seems to lie on poor planning but I fail to see how button layout could possibly cause problems before now.
Cingular must have thought this was going to be a hit because the LG C2000 looks fantastic on paper. It comes at a low cost and offers a wide array of multimedia features from Java based games to downloading pictures and buying new ring tones. All the gadgets are appealing and lure in the customer because they haven’t experienced the actual call quality yet.
Cingular needs to solve the basic problems fast before releasing another disaster. The voice quality is horrendous as the voices were muffled and quiet even in full reception areas. Consumers may be looking for the cheap camera phone, but saving a few bucks isn’t worth the aggravation this phone will cause. RATING: 3 out of 10.
